AIL show: Kigumi – Form and Force

Digital form finding studies by Adam Orlinski, based on the Kigumi principle featuring reciprocal linear profiles.

The basic concept of interconnected lines is used as the main parameter in a series of physical simulations. In digital models set up in Kangaroo Physics for Grasshopper 3D different combinations of forces and constraints are tested to explore formations emerging from a dynamic process.
In his studies Adam used the “Kigumi” design system that was developed in our various experiments on interlocking wooden profiles, to survey structural and space defining potentials on a more abstract and general level.
