fabrication of a first ptototype of a tetrahedral cell formed by branches of hornbeam

3D scanned branches are assembled in a digital model.
The complex mesh geometries are rebuilt into simplified forms smoothing out details such as bumps and small side branches.
varying cross sections of connected parts are levelled resulting in a homogenous structure.

the edited geometries inscribed into the boundaries of the original are cut out with a 3-axis CNC milling machine.

The parts are connected with half lap joints.
