The ANGEWANDTE DECKS in the OKP-courtyard are completed!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

On the occasion of the completion, we invite you to a project presentation and collective try-out on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the courtyard of the Oskar-Kokoschka-Platz 2, 1010 Vienna at DIE ANGEWANDTE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project idea emerged in 2019 in discussions between the \u201cConceptual Joining\u201d project team and the \u201cAngewandte Festival\u201d. In 2020 we started to collect ideas, feedback and visions from university members in an open process. Over three semesters with participants from various departments of the university, a collective design was created, as part of the STUDIO HOLZ course at the Institute for Art Studies, Art Education and Art Education (DAE \/ DEX) supported by the department for building construction at the Institute of Architecture (IoA), first ideas were further developed and eventually implemented by many participants. It was important to us to develop the design of the installation in the courtyard from within the university, thereby designing the shared space as a participatory project. With the partially indeterminate functionality of the structure, we want to challenge multi-layered possibilities of usability and activities that can be constantly reimagined and reinvented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three deck structures are made up of different wood types with certain properties, selected for specific functions. They rest on robinia piles, which support CNC-milled pine beams and those are covered with larch boards and squared timbers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are very pleased that this project could now be completed with the start of the semester, and we would like to thank the entire project team, all those involved and all supporters and we wish you all a lot of fun and exciting encounters on and with the new Angewandte Decks! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
