Andrea Rossi from the Digital Design Unit at TU Darmstadt, Germany, and the creator of the WASP Plugin for Grasshopper/Rhinoceros 3D is visiting us in Vienna for an intense 3-day-worksession to push his tool where it has never gone before!
Our team member Lukas Allner is going to present a paper about “Branch Formations” at this year’s IASS Conference in Boston.
In a series of studies we create a digitized catalogue of naturally grown branch nodes that are used as components
for the design of spatial frameworks. The emerging configurations utilize the tectonics of fiber patterns as a generative
parameter for constructs with continuous grain.
The resulting formations are tested with regard to ideal structural performance and potential function and then adjusted
accordingly in a feedback system. Continue reading
